Product Description:
The HBC-11-CX240D5 is a Crydom PCB mount CX240D5 solid state relay mounted in a compact, 0.5” (12mm) DIN mount carrier. The HBC-11-CX240D5 / CX240D5 power controller / solid state relay is capable of switching 5 amp loads at line voltages between 12Vac and 280Vac, making it an ideal solution for high-density applications requiring relatively high-power switching in a compact environment. The output circuit of the HBC-11-CX240D5 utilizes rugged back-to-back SCRs (inverse-parallel) to switch load current, which enables them to perform reliably for millions of hours in harsh industrial applications. The specified MTBF for the HBC-11-CX240D5 is >7 million hours when operating in a 60°C ambient environment, and increases to >11 million hours in a 40°C ambient.
The input of the HBC-11-CX240D5 accepts control signals between 3Vdc and 15Vdc and pulls <15mA @ 5Vdc. Since the CX240D5 solid state relay only requires a minimal amount of input current, they are commonly used to switch power to/from larger electromechanical relays and contactors in applications with low-power control circuits. An internal optical isolator provides 4kVrms dielectric protection between the AC mains and personnel / control circuitry. The zero-crossing output circuit will only trigger the output SCRs when the AC mains passes through the zero-crossing point of the sine wave. This greatly minimizes surge currents and reduces the level of conducted emissions generated by the solid state relay.
Typical applications for the HBC-11-CX240D5 include resistive heating, motor loads and other inductive loads with a power factor ≥0.5. They are commonly used as stand-alone solid state relays, or as a supplement to control boards or PLCs with limited outputs.
